Tyler Rines is a nationally recognized fundraising strategist and changemaker with a deep commitment to equity, civic engagement, and social impact. At We Grow Social Impact, Tyler brings nearly twenty years of fundraising success across higher education, public policy, historic preservation, health equity, and addiction recovery sectors. He specializes in major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving, prospect development, and organizational storytelling that mobilizes generosity and transforms lives.
Tyler currently serves as Major Gift Officer at Boston University’s Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, where he advances philanthropic investments in medical research, education, and healthcare equity. Previously, he led development as Chief Advancement Officer for SAFE Project, a national nonprofit combatting the addiction epidemic founded by Admiral James and Mary Winnefeld. Under Tyler’s leadership, SAFE Project expanded its #NoShameMovement, strengthened corporate and foundation partnerships, and scaled programs serving veterans, campuses, communities, and workplaces nationwide.
Prior to SAFE, Tyler held senior advancement roles at the University of Chicago’s Marine Biological Laboratory and James Madison’s Montpelier, where he raised tens of millions of dollars in gifts, grants, bequests, and appropriations—while also architecting stewardship programs, donor societies, and high-performing campaigns. His early work in politics, education, and nonprofit consulting helped hone a sharp policy acumen and a collaborative, equity-focused approach to philanthropy.
At We Grow Social Impact, Tyler co-leads strategy, mentors social sector professionals, and drives innovative fundraising solutions for nonprofits and social enterprises across the globe. Whether partnering with a grassroots startup or a legacy institution, he brings strategic clarity, donor insight, and contagious enthusiasm for the power of giving.
